Green Card through Marriage to a U.S. Citizen or through Family Members

Below you find general information about the Green Card through Marriage to a U.S. Citizen, which will answer most of your questions. Who Qualifies?

Any alien who marries a U.S. Citizen in the United States is entitled to apply for a Green Card (Permanent Resident Status).

The Application Process:

  • After the marriage has been registered, the couple has to file the following documents with the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS):
    1. Petition for Alien Relative
    2. Biographic Information
    3. Application to Register Permanent Residence
    4. Permission for Work Authorization
    5. Affidavit of Support
    6. Request for Travel Documents
    7. The appropriate supporting documents
    8. The exact filing fees

  • First of all, the INS will contact you regarding your work authorization and permission to travel. The processing times vary according to the state where you apply. It can range between the same day and 8 months.
  • The INS will contact you next to schedule an interview. The INS will ask you to present additional supporting documents.
  • If requested, we are able to supply an immigration attorney to accompany you, and assist you with the interview.
  • After a successful interview, the alien spouse will receive a stamp giving him/her the status of Conditional Permanent Resident.
  • This Status may be changed by applying for Removal of Conditional Status within 90 days of the 2 year anniversary of the granting of Conditional Permanent Residency.

The price of this service is $500. $300 is required as a deposit and $200 is due upon our completion of all the forms.
